Meet Brett 👋

Born, raised, and currently residing in New Jersey, I proudly embrace my love for all things Jersey; Porkroll, Springsteen, and The Sopranos.

My journey has been anything but traditional. I started as a concert photographer, spending weekends in the photo pit and even touring through Europe as the full-time photographer for a metal band

My passion for design grew out of my exploration of photography, leading me to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic & Interactive Design at Tyler School of Art & Architecture. There, I found my niche in user experience design, captivated by the challenge of creating impactful, user-centered solutions.

Continuing the Journey

Continuing my journey as part of the Search team within Yahoo!

Focusing on bridging the gap between design and engineering to ensure seamless execution. In this role, I’ve transitioned over 20 outdated components to Yahoo’s design system by creating, refining, and validating components that align with design team standards. Additionally, I integrated more than 100 icons into Yahoo’s icon library, resolving inconsistencies and ensuring compliance with design guidelines.

Starting my career off strong 👨‍💻

Formerly on the Global Banking Design Team at JPMorganChase as a product designer, a part of the Innovation Development Program’s Design Track.

At JPMorganChase, I helped lead a 7-month end-to-end redesign of an internal tool used by over 40k employees, collaborating closely with engineers and product teams to introduce a data-driven tool tailored to banker’s needs. My efforts including conducting user and usability interviews, directly influenced the implementation of new features. Additionally, I contributed to the expansion of the Story Design System, a bank-wide design system by developing and implementing three new components, now actively leveraged by over 80 designers.

My design background 🎓

In 2022, I graduated from Tyler School of Art & Architecture at Temple University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic and Interactive Design.

During my time at Tyler, I was able to learn the foundations of design with classes in Typography and Branding. I was able to forge my path here when I fell in love with user experience design, being able to blend my creativity with unique problem-solving was something that fueled me as a designer.

I dedicated my time in the Graphic & Interactive Design Program (GAID) to refining my design skills and learning as much as I could about user experience design.

My creative background 📸

Before my career in design, my creative career started with photography, specifically concert photography.

I was a touring photographer for SHVPES, a metal band from Birmingham, England. I traveled with SHVPES to over 10 countries in Europe and cities throughout North America documenting their live concerts during the 2018 and 2019 world tours.
